Vimy 100—A Change in Perspective
Vimy 100 is commemorating a massive moment in Canadian history. The planning, the unity of the four divisions, and the victory changed the way the world perceived Canada and marked the moment the country began its evolution from British colony to independent nation.
At the event, we wanted to inspire students to reflect on how the Battle of Vimy Ridge has shaped who they are today, and to recognize the importance of Vimy to Canadian identity through interactive exhibits, optical illusions, and perspective altering art.
We also wanted students to think beyond history, and change the way they think about the future of our world and how they can help make it a better place.

The maple leaf is undeniably the most recognizable symbol of Canadian identity, as well as, historically, one of the most important. For Vimy 100, we knew we had to incorporate this icon and stay true to the spirit of Canada, although we wanted to do it in a way as unique as the event itself.
Our logo was created with three main characteristics in mind: the ever-present crown of the maple leaf, the ‘V’ of Vimy Ridge, and organic unity. This is not only representative of the the veins in a leaf, but of the unity of the four divisions who fought at Vimy Ridge—distinct, independent pieces creating something complete.
